Synod Ministerial Committee

At the 11-12 July 2025 Synod Standing Committee, the Synod Ministerial Committee was established.

The Committee was appointed to:

  • undertake the responsibilities of the Advisory Committee on Ministerial Placements as determined by Reg. 3.7.4.2.
  • undertake the responsibilities of the Pilgrim Presbytery of Northern Australia of the Pastoral Relations Committee. The NRCC Executive will continue to fulfil the NRCC Presbytery Pastoral Relations Committee responsibilities.
  • undertake the following responsibilities of the Ministerial Education Board: Reg. 3.7.4.3 (c) (ii), Reg. 3.7.4.3 (c) (iii), Reg. 3.7.4.3 (d). The Ministerial Committee has the authority to delegate the responsibilities of the Ministerial Education Board to a sub-committee as required. The NRCC Executive will continue to be the MEB for NRCC members.

The Synod Ministerial Committee membership consists of:

    1. Moderator as ex-officio
    2. A chairperson, elected by each ordinary meeting of the Synod
    3. The Secretary of the Synod (or nominee)
    4. The NRCC Resource Worker (or NRCC Chair)
    5. The PPNA Resource Worker (or PPNA Chair)
    6. Up to four persons elected by the Synod Standing Committee, taking account of factors such as gender, age, ethnicity, rural/urban/remote knowledge/experience. Expressions of interest for membership shall be sought from the Synod.
    7. A balance of members paid and unpaid by the Synod and Lay and Ordained members shall be sought.
    8. NRCC members of Synod Standing Committee are offered an open invitation to attend meetings with full participation.
    9. The Ministerial Committee chair or delegate may be invited to the NRCC Executive Committee meetings on matters relating to NRCC Placements.

    To support the work of the Synod Ministerial Committee, a PPNA Resource Worker role was established to work alongside the NRCC Resource Worker, to ensure the responsibilities of this Committee were being met on the ground.
