In preparation for the Centenary celebrations at Alice Springs, work was done in and around John Flynn’s grave site.
In April last year a committee was formed to organise events to celebrate the centenary of the Australian Inland Mission during Heritage Week in April 2012. The events were held over two weekends: 14-15 and 21-22 April.
Events included an open day at Adelaide House, a re-enactment of the 1915 Patrol by Padre Bruce Plowman and the relaunching of Margaret Bain’s book: Adapting to Difference.
The Northern Synod Moderator, Stuart McMillan, joined other national leaders in sending an open letter to the Prime Minister.
The Uniting Church National Assembly, welcomed the statement by by the Yolngu Nations Assembly that rejects any further extention of the Northern Territory Intervention.
The Katherine Christian Convention will be held on the May long weekend from Saturday 5 to Monday 7 May 2012.
The Moderator, Stuart McMillan, launching Adapting to Difference by Margaret S Bain OBE, said that the Northern Territory Intervention, the South Australia unofficial counterpart and the Stronger Futures legislation, were all developed by a flawed consultative process.
The International Rural Churches Association will be holding its 8th Quadrennial Trans-Tasman Rural Conference from 2-6 July 2012. The conference will be held in Herberton, Atherton Tablelands in Far North Queensland. The theme of the conference is Resilience: building robust communities.

On 9th February 2012, Rev Bruce Gallacher was inducted into the Kimberly Patrol. The Kimberly Patrol covers all the Kimberly, including Kununurra, where the Bruce and Kaye will be based.
