Easter Reflection 2021.

For the second time we celebrate Easter still in an atmosphere of uncertainty due to the pandemic. In the past year, we had to celebrate in our respective homes with an atmosphere full of sorrow, but full of hope in Christ, the Lamb of Passover. The hope that, “because He lives, there is a tomorrow” surrounds us even in this year.  

When faced with fear and sorrow, Mary Magdalene, the first to go to Jesus’ tomb, grew saddened to find an empty tomb. “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have put him!” (John 20:2b).

In grief, Maria cried. When she returned to the grave, she did not recognize the angel who asked her, “Mother, why are you crying?” This new figure understood that Maria was looking for someone. Because of her sadness, she did not recognize who asked her and asked the guardian of the garden to return the body of Jesus to them. When Jesus greeted her by the name Mary, she recognized the voice asking her. Upon recognizing Jesus, Mary addressed Him by the very personal title “Rabboni” “My teacher” My Lord “.

In our current worries and inadequacies, we cry out to God. The Easter News reminds us of Christ who was present in the power of His Resurrection to overcome death. As a church and as individuals, we can turn to the living by taking quiet time and praying. Reduce the voice that prevents us from recognizing the voice of Christ who is greeting us through people who are currently seeking justice and continue to maintain the integrity of God’s creation.

“Because he lives, we can face tomorrow.”
