UnitingCare and Target Christmas Appeal
November 3, 2016
The Target and UnitingCare 25th Christmas Appeal has been launched in Target stores and will run through to the 24th of December. We have already had $35,000 directly donated to the appeal -before it has started!
This is the 25th anniversary or the Target and UnitingCare Christmas Appeal and we are hoping it will be the best possible. We are aiming to raise $1.5 million for Emergency Relief assistance plus tens of thousands of toys.
There are three mechanisms for the public to support:
1. Customers can buy a gift tag at the register for $1. We have a very prominent display rack of gift tags at each register with adult and children styles that customers will be encouraged to purchase. This will be managed by a store champion which is another new idea to help the stores manage the Appeal.
2. Every Target store will have a Christmas Tree for donated gifts to be placed under, with clear signage indicating this. They will then be collected and be placed in the loading dock of that store where our Local Volunteers will collect them. They will be counted and a form completed by a Target Team member. This is a huge improvement as previously this was at the layby counter which was not as prominent and it was left up to the volunteers to count the gifts.
Gifts donated at the Target stores do not need to be purchased from Target. Target have expressed they are supporting the Christmas Appeal it’s not about generating their sales for Target.
3. People can financially donate directly online at http://www.unitingcarechristmasappeal.com.au/
