Our hearts are filled with sadness at the news that the Rev Peter N (the first ordained Pitjantjatjara elder) passed away near Pukatja on Sunday last.

The deep and reflective wisdom our brother shared with the APY Land communities, the NRCC and the church more widely will be greatly missed.

 On a personal note he was my father and I valued his enthusiasm for life and his love of Scripture. I recall one morning at Fregon when it was bitterly cold answering the door of the teachers flat where I was staying to find my father, no shoes and having slept in the dry river bed, but with a jacket for me because he was concerned I had been cold at the Inma the night before. This typifies his generous heart and spirit – the compassionate heart of Jesus.

 The Northern Synod extends deep love to our late brother’s family, the APY communities and all who grieve his loss. Our prayers are with you all.
